Re Q5: Christmas Island was discovered by English Capt. John Milward of East India Co. ship Thomas on 3 Feb 1615. It was re-discovered by English Capt. William Mynos of the East India Co. ship Royal Mary on 25 Dec 1643, naming it Christmas Island.
